Political activist Kasmuel McOure has issued a clarification after uproar over his meeting with South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro.

Kasmuel said it was the first time he was meeting Osoro and he said what he has always said online to him.

“I go to that members’ club often and meet plenty of Kenyans there. The Majority Whip of Parliament is one of the many members. It was my first time meeting him, and I took the opportunity to say to his face what I’ve always said online: Their government has failed us in fundamental ways. Extrajudicial killings, false promises on service delivery, and a blatant disregard for the rule of law,” Kasmuel wrote on X.

He noted that during their discussions they disagreed on many aspects and agreed on some.

He reiterated that any little chance he gets to say the truth to power he will take it.

As pictures of the meeting with Osoro went viral on Wednesday, a section of Kenyans online accused him of working with the Kenya Kwanza government behind the scenes.

He explained that he was also there to meet other Kenyans, when the meeting happened.

“We disagreed on several issues and agreed on a few. We even had a good laugh before I moved on to the meeting I was actually there for. My online critics have often tried to relegate me to protests alone. However, you can not only dismiss me to die in the streets, as if my leadership was destined to end there. If I get the chance to speak truth to power, I’ll do it every time.”

Kasmuel has been a fierce critic of the Kenya Kwanza administration, in which Osoro serves as the Majority Chief Whip in the National Assembly.

Photos of their meeting spark mixed reactions from many quotas.
