Legendary Kenyan Journalist Leonard Mambo Mbotela has sadly passed away at the age of 85.

Mbotela’s death was confirmed to the Media by his family.

The former KBC journalist who has been unwell for some time passed away on Friday at around 9:30am.

“It is true my father-in-law has passed on,” Anne Mbotela tol the media.

Mbotela was married to Alice Mwikali, and they had three children: Aida, Jimmy, and George Mbotela.

Veteran Journalist Leonard Mambo Mbotela is dead

The iconic journalist was famous for his popular radio and television show, Jee Huuu ni Ungwana, which broadcasted on KBC radio and TV.

The program was started in 1966 and aired for almost 55 years.

He formerly worked for Kenya Weekly News and the East African Standard before joining KBC.

The legendary journalist was born in Freetown, Mombasa, in 1940 to James and Aida Mbotela. He was the firstborn of eight children.
