Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that while he did not sponsor the Gen Z protests, he supports their agenda.
He went on to say that he admires the fact that they are also a fearless lot that can bring about change in the country.
Gachagua said that he would it would be good if they allowed him to be their leader.
“I never led Gen Z and I never funded them but they are good kids. If they allowed me to be their leader it would be very good. I was not involved but I support what they did. They are fearless and that is good,” he said.
The former DP urged the Gen Z to register as voters, insisting that this is the tool that will give the country good leadership.
He said that they cannot only be fighting online.
“I want to urge them to not only fight online they must register as voters. It is the votes that will give them a good government.”
Gachagua stated that while he is not the leader of Gen Z, he supports their call for a better Kenya free from all forms of injustice.
Speaking on Tuesday morning, Gachagua claimed that those accusing him of orchestrating the Gen Z protests were merely seeking grounds to remove him from office.
He alleged that the accusations were part of a scheme to portray him as a rebel opposing the Kenya Kwanza government, thereby paving the way for his impeachment.
According to Gachagua, the protests were also fueled by state operatives who sought to undermine him for advocating the unity of the Mt Kenya region.
The protests compelled President William Ruto to reject the Finance Bill 2024.
