More than 15,000 Nairobi residents thronged State House on Saturday for an economic empowerment forum hosted by President William Ruto.
Braving the cold, enthusiastic youths were heard chanting “two terms” as they made their way to the venue.
The gathering was part of a series of nationwide forums organized by the Kenya Kwanza administration to inform and equip Kenyans with opportunities for economic growth.

Social Health Authority Registration Drive
During his address, President Ruto urged Kenyans to sign up for the Social Health Authority (SHA) to access medical services without paying directly at hospitals.
“Jiandikishe na uandikishe familia yako ili wakiwa wagonjwa wapate matibabu bila malipo yoyote,” he said.
He cautioned healthcare facilities against fraudulent practices, noting that the government had allocated Sh13 billion to reduce the financial strain of treatment on citizens.

Education Infrastructure and Equality
The President announced that the national and county governments are working together to build new classrooms, with his personal contribution funding 250 classes in the area.
“I am constructing 250 classes here, from my pocket, because I want our children to get educated, because every nation which believes in equality must invest in education,” Ruto remarked.
He emphasized that education remains a key driver of equality and opportunity in Kenya.
40,000 Youth Jobs Through Climate WorX
Highlighting employment creation, Ruto said the government plans to recruit more than 40,000 youths for the Climate Works program, designed to provide jobs while addressing environmental challenges.

Criticism from Opposition
The event unfolded amid criticism from opposition leaders, who claim the Kenya Kwanza government has failed to deliver on its commitments and is using empowerment forums to distract the public.
Despite the political tension, the high turnout and vocal support at State House reflected strong enthusiasm from many Nairobians for the President’s initiatives.
