Famed for his fiery activism and bold ambition, young political figure Morara Kebaso has announced he is stepping away from politics altogether, saying the decision brings him a long-awaited sense of personal freedom.
Known for championing progressive change and even declaring his intent to run for the presidency in 2027, Morara’s unexpected exit has sparked widespread conversation online.
In a candid social media post, the outspoken activist revealed the toll that politics had taken on his personal life and mental well-being.
“Guys, I finally escaped politics. I can now live my life. I can do my biz, make my mulla, travel the world, see my friends, visit a bar and not worry about pictures. I’m free,” he shared, adding that the pressure to appear perfect in public had become suffocating.

Morara emphasized his desire to regain control over his life—away from political scrutiny and social media judgement. “Nobody can judge me if I dance the wrong way or smile the wrong way. I don’t need security. I can drive myself and race like hell. I don’t have to show up for TV interviews and get misquoted,” he wrote, further highlighting the burdens that came with his high-profile role.
Denies Allegations of Receiving Millions to Support Government
Amid his resignation from politics, Morara also took time to respond to explosive rumors claiming he was paid either Sh200 million or Sh500 million to support President William Ruto and his administration. Strongly denying the allegations, he called out government-aligned bloggers for spreading falsehoods.
“This is very false. First, I have never supported the government,” he stated. “There is a video I did on how Kenyans should make better choices at the ballot, and how it would be useless to remove a president only to replace him with a worse one. Some people twisted and edited it to make it sound like I was endorsing the government, which is simply not true.”

Morara dismissed the claims as smear tactics aimed at silencing vocal critics and discrediting authentic youth leadership. “I have never thought of receiving any money to change my stand. Integrity in this country is treated with suspicion, and that is a very sad thing,” he lamented.
The Fate of “Vampire Diaries” Project
The former political aspirant also addressed concerns about his popular social commentary series, Vampire Diaries, which has been dormant in recent months. He clarified that contrary to speculation, he was not paid off to stop the project.
“The reason I haven’t been able to do Vampire Diaries is because it’s expensive to travel to all these places,” he explained, dismissing claims that the series was shelved due to political influence.
Morara closed his heartfelt message on a spiritual note, expressing his renewed freedom to worship and live authentically without the fear of judgment. “I can worship freely and preach the word of God without anyone thinking I’m pretending or chasing clout. It’s such a relief. I was almost going mad. I can live my life guys, finally. Can I hear an AMEN back there?”
As one of Kenya’s most prominent youth voices steps back from the political scene, the country is left reflecting on the immense pressures placed on young leaders—and what it means for the future of activism and accountability in the nation.
