The Main suspect in the gruesome murder of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were has been arrested in Nairobi by sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Credible reports reaching Famous Media, indicates that the suspect was arrested in Nairobi on Sunday, May 4th, 2025.

During the arrested, DCI officers were also able to recover the car used by the suspect to escape from the crime scene after killing MP Were.   

The vehicle in question was captured by security camersa near parliament building, City Hall Way, Wabera Street, Kenyatta Avenue, Jakaya Kikwete Road, Argwings Kodhek Road, and Valley Road, the same routes Were used before being killed.

The suspect is reported to have been traced along all the routes the late MP Used before he was shot dead.

The Kasipul MP was killed on April 30th, along Ngong Road near the City Mortuary Roundabout after being ambushed by gunmen.

Were was seated on the passenger’s seat of the Toyota Crown he was driving in together with his Driver and Bodyguard.

CCTV footage revealed that Were departed the parliament buildings around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, escorted by his driver and security.

Were’s car came to a halt briefly on Wabera Street, and his bodyguard exited, walked into an M-Pesa shop, and put Ksh20,000 into the MP’s phone.

Security cameras showed a hooded man carrying a bag and keeping an eye on the Kasipul MP’s vehicle.

At roughly 7:19 a.m., the MP’s vehicle left Wabera Street and went towards Kenyatta Avenue before changing course and joining Ralph Bunche Road to escape traffic before turning into Argwings Kodhek Road.

Were was then caught in a traffic jam on Valley Road, with the suspect who had been observed monitoring them on Wabera Street chasing them again on a sports bike.

Along Ngong, the suspect then got off the bike, approached the car, and fired four bullets at close range before fleeing the scene.

An autopsy supervised by Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor is scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2025, to provide more information about  Were’s death.
