Kindiki most preferred for DP if Gachagua is impeached

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki is the most preferred person to take the role of Deputy President, should Rigathi Gachagua be impeached, a survey by TIFA has said.

According to the survey, Kindiki is the most preferred at 58 per cent by the Mt Kenya residents, while only 30 per cent of Kenyans from other regions prefer him.

He is then followed by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro who polled only 5 per cent each.

Others who made the list include Kirinyaga and Homa Bay Governors Anne Waiguru and Gladys Wanga.

The national survey was conducted from October 1 to October 4, 2024.

It was conducted through Telephonic interviews in 1,892 people across the counties proportionate to population size.

The margin of error was +/- 2.25%.

However, majority of Mt Kenya residents are opposed to Gachagua’s impeachment, the survey said.

At least 69 per cent of Mt Kenya residents do not support his removal from office, with only 20 per cent in support.

However, less than half of Kenyans from other regions are in support of Gachagua’s impeachment, at 47 per cent.

28 per cent are opposed to his removal, while 24 per cent are not sure from the other regions.
