Digital Strategist and President William Ruto’s aide Dennis Itumbi has landed a new state appointment.

This comes months after his failed appointment as Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS).

In the new appointment, Itumbi will be the head of the Head of Creative Economy and Special Projects in the Executive Office of the President.

His Excellency the President has also appointed, with the approval of the Public Service Commission Mr. Dennis Itumbi, CBS the Head of Creative Economy and Special Projects in the Executive Office of
the President.

“This appointment will go into fostering this administration’s zeal of innovation and growth towards a robust yet novel sector in the economic sphere,” the Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei said.

Itumbi was among the 50 CAS appointed by Ruto before the Court nullified the appointments.

The Courts said the President had gone contrary to the initial 23 CASs approved by the Public Service Commission.

In January 2023, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua allayed fears that Itumbi was jobless.

Gachagua said that even though Itumbi had no designated office, he was a close aide to Ruto.

“Many of you wonder what is the work of Itumbi is. His office is known as come here, go there. He is a close friend of our President,” he said.

“Itumbi has no office, but he is in charge of everything. He arranges everything, he is the president’s handler.”

He was responding to critics from Azimio who had claimed that Itumbi had been sidelined by Ruto while forming his government.
