The identities of the two men who tragically lost their lives in a road traffic accident involving British-Nigerian boxing superstar Anthony Joshua have now been confirmed.

The fatal crash occurred earlier today along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, in the Makun area of Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria. Anthony Joshua was travelling in a Lexus SUV when the vehicle reportedly collided with a stationary truck under circumstances that are still under investigation. Preliminary reports suggest the crash may have been caused by excessive speed, a tyre burst, or a risky overtaking manoeuvre.

With profound sadness, it has been confirmed that the two victims were Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele—both close friends and key members of Joshua’s training team.

Anthony Joshua Accident: Trainer Latif Ayodele and Coach Sina Ghami Confirmed Dead

Sina Ghami was Anthony Joshua’s long-time strength and conditioning coach, having worked closely with the two-time world heavyweight champion for over a decade. Ghami played a pivotal role in Joshua’s physical preparation and was instrumental in training him for his most recent bout, which included his high-profile fight against Jake Paul.

Latif Ayodele, popularly known as “Latz,” was Joshua’s personal trainer and a very close friend. He frequently travelled and trained alongside the boxer and was considered an integral part of Joshua’s inner circle, both professionally and personally.

Famous Media can confirm that Anthony Joshua sustained injuries in the accident and was rushed to the hospital for medical checks and treatment. He is reported to be in a stable condition and remains under observation. Authorities and close associates have confirmed that the boxer escaped with minor injuries and bruises.

Joshua was reportedly in Nigeria visiting family following his recent knockout victory over Jake Paul when the tragic accident occurred. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, has since reassured fans that the boxer is recovering well, stating that he appears “OK.”

In a statement, heartfelt condolences were extended to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, with a request for privacy during this incredibly difficult time. No further official comment has been made.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the global boxing community, with fans, fellow athletes, and industry figures expressing their grief and offering prayers for the families of Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele.

Today is a painful reminder of how cheaply lives are treated in Nigeria.
It is devastating that a Nigerian who has carried our flag with pride across the world can return home only for two of his closest associates to be met by death on our roads. Two precious lives gone. Friends. Brothers. People with families, dreams, and futures. This is not fate. This is failure.
Failure of our road safety systems.
Failure of infrastructure.
Failure of leadership.
How many more must die before our roads are made safe? How long will we keep celebrating excellence abroad while exposing our own people to danger at home? This tragedy is traumatising and unacceptable.
A country that cannot protect its people is a country in urgent need of accountability. We need safer roads, proper enforcement, emergency response systems that work, and a government that treats human life as sacred, not disposable.
My heart is heavy for Anthony Joshua. My prayers are with the families of the departed and with everyone grieving this senseless loss. May their souls rest in perfect peace.
Nigeria must do better. Lives depend on it.

May Allah subhanahuwata’la allow us to walk side by side again like this in Jannatul Firdous my brother Abdul Latif. Ameen.
I’ve never had someone so close to me pass away. My brother Abdul Latif, we had a lot of plans here in Dubai, but as we all know Allah swt is the best of planners and so he decides our fate. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi Raji’oon.
Reminder that every soul shall taste death. It’s the only thing guaranteed for us in life.
Please keep him in your Duahs for Allah to forgive all his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdous.
