Spotify Wrapped 2025 has revealed a defining year for Kenyan music, with local artists continuing to shape the country’s sound and influence.

This year’s list of Top Streamed Kenyan Artists reflects a powerful blend of established legends and groundbreaking newcomers who have captured the ears and hearts of millions of listeners.

At the forefront is Bien, who leads as the most-streamed Kenyan artist of 2025. His solo momentum remains unmatched, fuelled by the continued success of Alusa, Why Are You Topless?, a project that has resonated deeply across demographics — especially 35–44 year-old listeners. His position underscores the strong transition he has made from group acclaim to individual dominance.

In second place is Sauti Sol, cementing their legacy as one of Kenya’s most beloved groups. Even in their hiatus, their catalogue continues to pull massive streams, proving the timelessness and cultural impact of hits like Midnight Train.

Wakadinali take third place, continuing their reign as Kenya’s premier hip-hop collective. Their ability to blend rap, sheng culture, and raw narratives has kept them at the forefront of the nation’s most-streamed acts.

New Wave Power: Toxic Lyrikali, Watendawili & Njerae Rise

One of the biggest stories from Spotify Wrapped 2025 is the undeniable rise of Kenya’s new generation of hitmakers.

Toxic Lyrikali, ranked at number four, stands out as the Top Discovered Artist in Kenya in 2025. His breakout tracks Chinje and Backbencher both landed within the year’s most-streamed local songs — a testament to his growing influence and the public’s appetite for his raw, unfiltered style.

At number six, Watendawili continues to gain momentum after securing four spots on Spotify’s most-streamed local tracks with hits like Inakuballika, Hadi Kesho, and Cham Thum (Atoti). Their 2025 success builds on the strength of their album En Route, which debuted in the Top 5 most-streamed local albums.

Njerae, sitting at number seven, has enjoyed one of the most remarkable rises of the year. Her breakout anthem “Aki Sioni” is officially Kenya’s Most-Streamed Song of 2025, with overwhelming support from listeners aged 18–24.

Her album Unintentional also secured a Top 5 spot among the most-streamed Kenyan albums, establishing her as one of the breakout stars of the year.

Kenyan Favorites Maintain Their Influence

Veterans and fan favorites also held strong positions in the Top 10.

Bensoul (No. 5) continues to resonate with soulful storytelling, while Nyashinski (No. 8) retains his status as one of the country’s most consistent hitmakers.

Gen Z favorite Lil Maina, at number nine, reflects the youth-driven shift shaping Kenya’s modern soundscape, while Okello Max, completing the Top 10, continues to charm listeners with his blend of Luo-infused afropop and infectious melodies.

A Landmark Year for Kenyan Music

The 2025 Wrapped results paint a clear picture: Kenya’s music scene is more diverse, dynamic, and self-driven than ever before. From chart-topping legends to genre-bending newcomers, Kenyan audiences are increasingly turning to homegrown sounds — and the numbers prove it.

As Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, noted:

“Kenya’s 2025 Wrapped reveals a music scene that’s more vibrant than ever. It’s inspiring to see how strongly Kenyans have streamed their own homegrown talent this year, championing rising voices while still celebrating the artists who’ve shaped the culture.”

With rising global exports, a growing youth fanbase, and artists redefining the country’s sonic identity, Kenya’s future — both locally and internationally — looks brighter than ever.
