Kenyan is today, December 12, 2024, celebrating its 61st Independence Day in a ceremony being held at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.
The ceremony is being president over by President William Ruto and his Deputy Kithure Kindiki and Kenyans have turned up in numbers for the ceremony.
The State has lined up several entertaining performances to give attendees and Kenyans following the event from TV and online a refreshing experience.

President William Ruto’s arrival at Uhuru Gardens
President William Ruto arrived at the Uhuru Gardens for the Jamhuri Day Celebrations.
Ruto was welcomed was received by his deputy Kithure Kindiki. First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto arrived shortly before President Ruto.
Following his arrival, as is tradition, he inspected the guard of honour while flanked by Chief of Defence Forces General Charles Kahariri.
The ceremony has seen several dignitaries attend.
Gambia’s President Adama Barrow is also present at the celebrations.
Barrow arrived in the country on Wednesday evening and was received by Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi and mining CS Ali Hassan Joho.
