Celebrated media personality Janet Mbugua has landed a new job at Nation Media Group almost 8 years after leaving Royal Media’s Citizen TV.
The announcement was made by Simaloi Dajom, Head of Broadcasting at Nation Media Group.
In an internal memo, Dajom welcomed Ms Mbugua to Nation Media, stating that her experience in the media industry would be valuable to the media house.
“Dear Colleagues,
I am excited to inform you that renowned media personality, Janet Mbugua has joined Nation Media Group,” the statement said.

The memo highlighted Janet Mbugua’s previous achievements and roles as a Prime Time news anchor and producer.
“Janet is highly skilled in engaging audiences on TV, Radio & Digital media. She has previously worked as a prime-time News Anchor, show host & content producer for major outlets in Kenya & South Africa. Janet is an advocate of inclusivity for women and girls and is also passionate in amplifying Voices for social change,” Simaloi Dajom further stated.
Dajom went on to ask Nation Media Group employees to accord Ms Mbugua the necessary support that will enable her to thrive in her new role.
“She joins a vibrant team dedicated to delivering compelling, solution-driven content across our multimedia platforms.
“Please join me in extending a warm NMG welcome to Janet. Let us provide her with the support she needs to settle and thrive in her role as we drive our shared vision of Positively Influencing Society,” Dajom added.

Eric Latiff Joins Nation Media Group
Janet Mbugua joined Nation Media Group weeks after the media house poached Eric Latiff from the Standard Media Group.

Eric Latiff’s exit from Standard Group
On January 6th, Latiff announced his departure from Standard Media Group.
“On this 6th day of January 2025, my heart is heavy as I bid kwaheri to the brilliant team of colleagues at Spice FM and the Standard Group. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Kenya’s oldest private media house again and I am proud of the teams I leave behind in radio, TV, and print,” Latiff said.
He went on to reminisce about his time at the radio station from August 2019 when it was opened, his first day with colleagues, CT Muga, Ndu Okoh, and Njeri Thorne, to what it is today.
