Kenyan political activist and aspiring politician Morara Kebaso has made a stunning comeback to the political arena, barely weeks after announcing his departure from active politics.
Known for his fiery rhetoric and fearless advocacy, Morara says his decision to return is driven by a deep sense of duty and love for country.
“I have decided that this is not the kind of country I want my children to grow up in. And I am not ready to move elsewhere because I like the food, the weather, the trees and the people. Therefore ladies and gentlemen, fighting for it is not a choice I should make—it is a duty I cannot avoid,” Morara declared.

From Resignation to Resolve
Just a few weeks ago, Morara shocked his followers when he publicly announced his withdrawal from politics. In a candid statement, he expressed relief at stepping back from the intense pressures of public life.
“Guys, I finally escaped politics. I can now live my life. I can do my business, make my mulla, travel the world, visit a bar and not worry about pictures,” he said.
“I don’t need security or show up for TV interviews and get misquoted. I don’t need to explain to anyone the cost of my shirt, shoe, car, or house. It’s none of their fkin business**,” he added unapologetically.
This declaration was seen by many as a symbolic break from the toxicity of Kenya’s often hostile political environment, where young, outspoken leaders like Morara face immense scrutiny and backlash.
Allegations, Backlash & the Sh500M Rumor
Despite his exit, Morara continued to be the subject of national conversation. A wave of online rumors claimed that he had received a hefty Sh500 million from President William Ruto’s government to support its agenda.
Morara vehemently denied the claims, labelling them as “baseless propaganda” spread by government-aligned bloggers.
“There are people saying I was given Sh200 million, others Sh500 million by William Ruto to support the government. That’s very false. I’ve never supported the government,” Morara clarified.
He traced the origins of the claims to a video he had shared urging Kenyans to make better decisions during elections, which, he says, was edited maliciously to appear as though he was endorsing the regime.
“I have not gotten to that point – I’m still fighting for the people,” he affirmed.

A Reluctant Hero Returns
Morara’s U-turn marks the return of a charismatic and unfiltered voice in Kenya’s youth-driven political space. While many had applauded his decision to prioritize personal freedom over political fame, his re-entry is being viewed as a reaffirmation of his role as a voice of reason, resistance, and reform.
As the 2027 elections loom in the distance, Morara Kebaso’s reappearance is likely to shake up the status quo, especially among young voters hungry for authenticity and radical honesty in leadership.
