What started as a cultural wave has now exploded into a full-blown live experience, as Captain Morgan partnered with Mejja to bring Mtoto wa Khadija to life in a high-energy showcase at Kinoru Stadium on April 11th, delivering an immersive celebration of music, culture, and shared experience.
Following weeks of growing anticipation among fans, the event marked the first major live performance of the album, a project that has steadily become part of everyday listening for many Kenyans. From the moment gates opened, the energy in Meru was unmistakable, with fans turning up in large numbers to be part of the experience.
The night was headlined by Mejja, whose performance brought fan-favourite tracks such as Manifest and Siaka. The live renditions transformed familiar songs into a shared, high-energy moment, as the crowd sang along and fully immersed themselves in the music.

Supporting acts, including Toxic Lyrikali, Dyana Cods, Jaysoul, and ZJ Heno kept the momentum going, while DJs DJ Mawinch, DJ Deewiz, DJ Bee, and DJ Daffy delivered seamless sets that carried the crowd through the night. MC Azeezah brought her signature charisma to the stage, tying the entire experience together.
Beyond the performances, Captain Morgan curated an interactive space including photobooths and game zones. In addition, brand mixologists served fun favourite cocktails such as the Captain Cola and Muckpit & Sprite. These elements added depth to the event, ensuring that the experience extended beyond the stage and into every corner of the venue.
“This activation reinforced Captain Morgan’s commitment to creating bold, culture-driven experiences that resonate with its consumers” Victor Adada, Captain morgan Brand Manager said that evening.

Kanyi Kiuru, Captain Morgan Muckpit brand manager reflected, “I have loved seeing consumers enjoy the Captain Morgan Cocktails, having fun in the experience zones, Meru never disappoints.”
Mejja also commented, “Manze nibambika, wasee wa Meru, big up, thanks for the support, this was night to remember.”
As the night ended, one thing was clear, this was a celebration of consistency, growth, and connection, reflecting both Mejja’s journey and the audience that has grown with his music over the years.
