Early Life Rooted in Faith and Family

Born in 1985 in Njiku Village, Karuri, Kiambu County, Betty was the treasured daughter of Joyce Wairimu and the late George Mbugua Kang’ethe. Raised in a strong Christian home, she grew into an obedient, hardworking, and compassionate young girl whose gentle spirit was evident even in her earliest years. Surrounded by her siblings and extended family, she embodied humility, kindness, and a willingness to help wherever she was needed.

A Journey of Education and Personal Growth

Betty’s pursuit of knowledge was as remarkable as her deep faith. She began her education at St. Joseph Nursery School before joining Gitare Primary School, later completing her primary studies at Mihuti Primary School in Nyandarua County. She proceeded to Riara Secondary School, where she completed her KCSE exams in 2004.

Driven by a thirst for growth, Betty trained as a hairdresser in Kiambu, studied video and photography at Imara Studios, and later pursued journalism under renowned broadcaster Njogu wa Njoroge. Her internship at Kameme FM opened doors in the media world. At the time of her passing, she was advancing her theological journey, studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Theology at Landmark Theological Baptist Seminary in Nairobi.

A Voice that Ministered to Nations

Many Kenyans and global gospel music lovers knew Betty through her soul-stirring music. Her debut album, 11th Hour, marked the beginning of a powerful ministry that eventually produced four albums and several singles that ministered profoundly to thousands.

Her first album launch at St. Andrew’s Church in Nairobi drew an overwhelming crowd — a testimony to how far God had lifted her. Her music took her across Kenya and to various nations, where she shared her voice, her testimony, and her unwavering faith. Through every song, she reminded listeners that God remains faithful in all circumstances.

Beyond the stage, Betty was known for her gentle heart and warm interactions with fellow artists. She served as Secretary of Blessed Beautiful Sisters and was also an active member and Trips & Events Organiser of Royal Family Club.

Love, Marriage, and Family

Betty’s life was blessed with love and family. In 2012, she married Pastor Victor Kanyari, and together they were blessed with two beautiful children — Sky Victor and Danny Victor. Though their union later ended, Betty remained anchored in faith and committed to her children.

In 2021, she found love again and married Hiram Gitau Muthoni, widely known as Tash. Together, they built a meaningful, joy-filled life between Kenya and the United States. Her husband and children were the centre of her world.

A Visionary Woman of Many Talents

Betty was not only a celebrated musician — she was an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and visionary. In 2016, she fulfilled a heartfelt dream by completing and unveiling her mother’s home, a proud and emotional milestone celebrated with family and friends. She also made impactful contributions to her community, including donating uniforms and shoes to pupils at Kabathi Primary during her homecoming event at Karuri Primary School.

Her entrepreneurial journey expanded into marketing, real estate, travel promotion, and beauty products. In 2023, she and her husband co-founded a real estate company focused on land and homes. She also established Tambua Production, a photography and video studio that supported and uplifted creatives.

Until her final days, Betty remained committed to her craft and ministry, working on a new gospel album — a project that, though unfinished, symbolizes her steadfast dedication to God’s work.

Illness and Final Moments

In her final days, Betty fell ill and was treated for low haemoglobin, receiving several transfusions as doctors worked tirelessly to restore her health. Despite the efforts of medical professionals and the prayers of loved ones, she rested in the Lord — leaving behind memories that will remain alive in the hearts of many.

A Legacy That Lives On

Betty Bayo was more than a gospel artist. She was a mother, wife, daughter, sister, minister, mentor, entrepreneur, and friend. Her life was a melody of faith, resilience, and generosity. Though she is no longer with us, her voice will continue to minister, her memory will continue to inspire, and her legacy will continue to shine for generations to come.”
