British-Nigerian boxing superstar Anthony Joshua has issued his first public statement following the tragic deaths of two of his closest friends and long-serving team members, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, popularly known as “Latz.”
Taking to social media, the former two-time heavyweight world champion shared an emotional message, reflecting on the bond he shared with the two men and the pain of their sudden loss.
“Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers. I didn’t even realise how special they are. I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men. 100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents ❤️ I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers 🙏🏾,” Joshua wrote.

The heartfelt tribute has drawn an outpouring of condolences from fans, fellow athletes, and members of the global boxing community.
The identities of the two men were confirmed following a fatal road traffic accident that reportedly occurred earlier today along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, in the Makun area of Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria.
According to preliminary reports, the crash involved a Lexus SUV and a stationary truck, with investigations still ongoing to establish the exact cause of the accident.
Sina Ghami was Anthony Joshua’s long-time strength and conditioning coach, having worked closely with the boxer for over a decade.

Widely respected within elite boxing circles, Ghami played a crucial role in shaping Joshua’s physical conditioning and was a constant presence throughout his training camps and preparations for major bouts.
Latif Ayodele, known as Latz, was Joshua’s personal trainer and a trusted confidant. Beyond their professional relationship, the two shared a close personal friendship, with Latz often travelling alongside the boxer and forming part of his inner circle.
Their deaths represent a devastating loss not only to Anthony Joshua personally but also to the wider boxing fraternity.
As investigations continue, fans and colleagues alike continue to rally around Joshua and the families of the deceased, offering prayers and messages of support during this deeply painful time.
