Award-winning Kenyan rapper Nyashinki and American rapper Lauryn Hill have been unveiled as headliners of Day Two of the Walker Town Festival happening in Nairobi.
The Festival will be going down on Sunday, September 29 at the Laureate Gardens, Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.
Nyanshinki’s presence at the concert guarantees a line-up of extraordinary performances for music lovers and fans of the iconic Johnnie Walker brand.
In a statement, East African Breweries PLC (EABL), through its Johnnie Walker brand said the appearance will be Ms. Hill’s first major performance in Kenya since 2019 when she headlined a concert in Kenya as part of her world tour of her album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
Commenting on the announcement, Josephine Katambo, Marketing Manager for Scotch & Reserve Portfolio at EABL, said:
“We are incredibly excited to host Ms. Lauryn Hill’s return to Kenya, especially at such a prestigious event as Walker Town. Her legendary status in music aligns perfectly with Johnnie Walker’s values of boldness, progressiveness, and excellence. This first ever two-day celebration will not only bring together iconic performances but also offer a rich cultural experience through art and fashion for both music and whisky enthusiasts.”
Ms. Lauryn Hill, celebrated for her pivotal role as a pioneering member of The Fugees, is globally recognised for her trailblazing contributions to hip-hop, R&B, and soul.
The Fugees’ ground-breaking 1996 album, The Score, redefined hip-hop, while Ms. Hill’s solo masterpiece The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill cemented her legacy as one of the most influential and enduring artists of her generation.
Nyashinki has been the Johnnie Walker Brand Ambassador since 2023. On the other hand, Hill was in Kenya a few years ago to inspect activities sponsored by her Non-Profit Organization.

Day One at Walker Town
For the first time since its inception in 2022, the event will extend over two days, from September 28th to 29th.
It will feature a stellar lineup of live performances from local and international artists, art exhibitions, fashion displays, and other exciting experiences.
Attendees will have the chance to explore the different flavours of Johnnie Walker through exclusive tasting experiences designed to showcase the unique qualities of each whisky blend.
These tastings will be paired with, complemented by curated culinary delights and crafted cocktails creating a sensory journey that enhances the whisky experience.
The entertainment scene will be much bigger and more electrifying with Nigerian Afrobeats sensation REMA headlining the day one performance.

His performance promises a musical journey that will keep the energy soaring throughout the weekend. Additionally, the first day will also feature a dynamic mix of talent, including Kenya’s own Bien and the rising British rapper Arrdee.
Among the highlights of the event is an exclusive listening party hosted by Johnnie Walker Blue Label, designed to elevate the festival into a luxurious, premium experience that will allow guests to immerse themselves in the bold flavours and rich legacy of this whisky.

Walker Town events have quickly become cultural highlights across Kenya, attracting thousands of attendees in towns like Nairobi, Meru, and Nakuru, since their inception. These events are part of Johnnie Walker’s ongoing initiative to create immersive experiences that celebrate the brand’s storied heritage and cultural significance.
