“My Dearest Daughter, PRUDENCE VANPELT BRINA

“As I write this letter, tears roll down my cheeks—not from pain this time, but from overwhelming gratitude and pride. You have done what many said was impossible. You’ve rewritten my story, and in doing so, you’ve healed a piece of me that I thought would remain broken forever,” Akothee said.

According to Akothee when her marriage collapsed a few years ago, Fancy was only five years old.

“When my marriage collapsed, you were barely five years old. A tiny, sickly child in and out of hospital. I could barely afford medicine—forget even something as basic as Paracetamol. I had to befriend a doctor just so you could be treated for free. One night, you were burning with fever, vomiting and shivering. I called the doctor, desperate. He told me to meet him at Bombolulu stage. He promised to pick me up,” Akothee said in part.

She went on to add; “I waited. And waited. He never came, he forgot me at the station. But I couldn’t afford to give up hope. I couldn’t afford to lose you, I dint even know it was past 10.00 pm, I don’t have a watch ,but slowly the night started going quite , a few people walking around stalls closing,”.

Akothee went on to narrate that she got arrest that night after police officers fouyd her on the road without listening to her story.

“Then, as I stood there helpless, the police found me. Pilkapilka za Polisi. I had no ID, no money. Just the fear of losing my daughter. They didn’t listen to my story. They arrested me for loitering. That night, I slept on the cold floor of Bamburi Police Station, with your name on my lips and prayers in my heart,”.

“In the morning, I was released. I walked home with trembling legs, my heart heavy with fear. I didn’t know if you’d survived the night. I opened the door, broken, expecting the worst—but God had kept you. He had kept all of you,” Akothee added.

She went on to say: “None of you went to school that day—no one had been there to prepare you. And even then, you’d already been sent home for school fees. Still, I tried to protect your innocence. I told you my car had broken down and I’d spent the night at the mechanic. I didn’t want to plant the word “police” in your young heart.

“We lived in Nyali, near Kisumu Ndogo, in that small one-bedroom house. Our 6×6 bed held all of us, close and warm. We didn’t have much, but I made sure there was always food in the fridge. I tried, my child. I tried. And now—today—you stand,”.

Fancy Makadia’s sister Vesha Okello also said that she is proud of her sister.

“Starting this morning on an incredibly high note 🍾🍾🍾 @fancy_makadia has officially graduated with her Master’s degree 🍾🍾🍾🍾. Eeeh mama, you’ve made us so proud! Your hard work, grace, and dedication inspire us all. Cheers to new heights and greater wins 😍😍🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉,” Vesha shared.
